THE PEOPLE’S CHAMP $1000 COMEDY COMPETITION!
—> Starting June 23rd at Darby’s Pub, we’ll be having the $1000 People’s Champ Comedy Competition!! 40 comics will vie for up to $1000 cold hard cash!
Here’s how it will all break down:
June 23rd – July 21st: PRELIM’S
Each week eight (8) stand-up comics will perform up to 6 minutes each. Voting will be done by the audience AND judges. The top two (2) audience vote getters will advance along with the judges top choice, for a total of three (3) comics advancing each week to the semi-finals. In the event that the judges pick an audience winner, the next judges choice will advance, so that each week three (3) comedians will advance to the semi-finals.
July 28th – Aug. 4th: SEMI-FINALS
The top 15 comics from the previous weeks, plus a wildcard spot will be broken up into two (2) groups of eight (8). These comedians will perform up to 8 minutes each. Voting will be done by the audience AND judges. The top two (2) audience vote getters from each night will advance along with the judges top choice, for a total of three (3) comics advancing to the semi-finals each week. In the event that the judges pick an audience winner, the next judges choice will advance, so that each week three (3) comedians will advance to the finals.
Aug. 11th: FINALS
Six (6) Comedians will perform up to 10 minutes each. Voting will be done by the audience AND judges. The audience top vote getter will win $500. The judges top choice will win $500. In the event that the judges choice and the audience winner are in fact the same person, said person will receive $1000!! So in other words, if both the audience AND the judges pick you as The People’s Champ, you can walk away with $1000 cold, hard cash!

RULES: – Contest is open to both Pro’s AND Amateurs – If you go over your time by 1 – 30 seconds you lose 1 point. For every 30 seconds (or part of) after that, you lose 10 points and so on.
Finals/Semi-Finals – The Two comics who get the highest audience score each week will advance. – The comic who gets the highest judges score each week will advance. – If in the event the judges choose someone who is also an audience winner, the next judges choice shall advance. – A total of 3 comics will advance each week. 2 audience choices, 1 judges choice
Finals: – 6 comics shall do up to 10 minutes each. – The judges will pick a winner and the audience shall pick a winner. – The judges choice will win $500 – The audience choice will win $500 – If the judges choice and the audience choice is the same person, said person shall win $1,000!
